Dawkins and Byron Garcia

A Reply to: Dawkins’ Manx Shearwater
Whenever I come across a story like this my mind immediately reverts to The God Delusion where Richard Dawkins quotes Sam Harris, “While religious people are not generally mad, their core beliefs absolutely are.” And then I think of The Sunday Times Culture Magazine (21 October 07) describing TGD as “Powerful arguments on the irrationality of and harm caused by faith.” TGD targets Christianity and the best reply to this that I can think of is still seeing what true Christianity is doing to change people’s lives for the better and for the betterment of society. This story describes a completely changed life from gang leader to Christian evangelist - the outcome of the influence by Christians and reading a Bible - not reading Dawkins or Darwin. For anyone caught up by extreme atheism such as that pedalled in The God Delusion the stories on this website show the opposite - as does this story of Byron Garcia.

What a different view on Christianity from that of Dawkins is taken by atheist Matthew Parris.
