Ida Hype: A Publicity Stunt!

I watched David Attenborough on BBC1 last night - “Uncovering Our Earliest Ancestor: The Link.” As one who has enjoyed Attenborough’s nature programmes I wonder does it do any good for his ‘street cred’ to get involved in the Origin’s debate this way? True, he is a convinced evolutionist and has no time for the opposing Intelligent Design , here as well,  - or the Creation views but here we find Atenborough, and the BBC, exposed in something that real is a spoof - except that Attenborough appears to really believe what he is saying that Ida is a transitional link when science journals such as New ScientistLay Science and Live Science - although in very moderate language - are saying, Definitely No!
There is always going to be controversy over origins but evolutionary scientists see these kind of populist media publicity stunts injuring rather than furthering their cause.
